Preserve intentional lines, flat color, and character design

Anime, manga, game art, and cel-style illustrations often depend on deliberate line weight, flat color regions, controlled gradients, and exact character features. An upscale can clean presentation or can quietly redraw the work. Define whether the output is for viewing, print, layout, or further painting, and compare every structural change with the authorized source.

Identify the art pipeline before choosing a scale

Use the cleanest authorized export, preferably before JPEG compression, social resizing, subtitles, or screenshots. Determine whether the source is scanned line art, a finished cel-style illustration, a low-resolution game asset, an animation frame, or already AI-generated art. If character continuity matters, create a human-reviewed reference sheet and reject changes that conflict with it. Text, sound effects, logos, and signatures should be replaced from a verified vector or typeset source rather than trusted after AI reconstruction.

Prepare the result for print, layout, or animation responsibly

Check the output at final print size or screen density and through the actual color and compression pipeline. Large-format print may expose halos and invented texture that disappear on a phone; a small web export may gain nothing from a very high factor. Preserve transparency and hard edges where the production format needs them, and confirm that resizing has not introduced a background fringe around characters.

Record the source type, intended use, scale, estimate, result dimensions, and approval notes. Process files individually and keep the original layers or project assets outside the service. Confirm that you have rights to alter and publish the artwork, especially for commissioned characters, licensed media, fan work, model sheets, or production frames.
